The leadership unit of the Introduction to Honors 201 course allowed me to learn what my particular strengths are as a leader. This essay reflects what I learned about my individual leadership style and how I can best use my new found leadership knowledge in the future. The Honors 201 class and my leadership essay reflects largely on my emerging skills as a leader. In the Honors 201 class, I took the StrengthsFinders assessment and learned that my strengths as a leader are responsibility, empathy, input, intellection, and strategy. In learning these strengths, I now know what aspects of leadership I excel at or tend to focus on, allowing me to have further knowledge of how to successfully lead others in the future.  I also established what my values concerning leadership. I strive to be a leader that  has  values that mirror and compliment my strengths. I value organization, listening openly to others, providing fresh new ideas and intelligence, and having an overall end goal and plan set in place to achieve. By identifying my personal leadership values, I have then been able to reflect on how I would be a vital part within any team or group setting with my skills, as well as what various leadership roles  need to exist outside of my own in order to succeed. This further reflection has revealed that I qualify as an emerging leader in the context of my beginning understanding of leadership in the honors program and beyond.
